Why it matters
The Pet Door Connect reads microchips and adds app control through the SureFlap Hub (sold separately): lock or unlock remotely, change curfew times and see each pet's comings and goings over time.
Its opening is about 6 11/16 in wide by 7 in high, roomier than SureFlap's cat flaps and suited to large cats and small dogs.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Large cats
- Owners who want app control
- Curfew schedules
Look elsewhere if
- Doors too thin for the frame
- Cats larger than the opening
- Owners who can't cut the door or wall
Pros and cons
Pros
- App control (with Hub)
- Larger opening
- Activity history
Cons
- Hub required, sold separately
- Higher total cost
- Needs Wi-Fi
Limitations to weigh
- Measure your cat's widest point and the door or wall thickness before cutting; check the cut-out size on the maker's template.
- Confirm your cat's microchip number and standard before buying; a vet or a scanner can read it.
- Budget for the SureFlap Hub; app features don't work without it.
