Why it matters
Clean Paws is designed to stick less to paws and stay in the box. Fresh Step's multi-cat formula combines clay, carbon and Ammonia Block Technology with Febreze freshness and comes with a 21-day odor control guarantee.
It locks in liquid and forms tight clumps for easy scooping. The listing is two 18.5 lb boxes.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Multi-cat homes
- Owners fighting tracked litter
- Self-cleaning boxes that take clumping litter
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who want a light bag
- Flushing (clay isn't flushable)
- Crystal-tray boxes
Pros and cons
Pros
- Low tracking
- 21-day odor claim
- Tight clumps
Cons
- Scented
- Heavy boxes
- Not flushable
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- Scented litters can put off some cats; if your cat avoids the box after a change, try an unscented formula.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
