Why it matters
Mintakawa states a range of 3.5 to 15 lb, so this drum suits kittens and small to medium adults rather than large breeds. The app connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and records each cat's weight, visit duration and frequency.
Operating sound stays under 35 dB, per Mintakawa. The drum comes out for cleaning and is washable. Setup takes about 30 minutes.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Small to medium cats
- Budget buyers
- Single or multi-cat homes
Look elsewhere if
- Homes without a level spot near an outlet
- Cats that are afraid of moving parts
- Kittens under the maker's minimum weight
Pros and cons
Pros
- Stated 3.5–15 lb range
- Weight tracking
- Quiet
Cons
- Not for cats over 15 lb
- Assembly required
- Cat count not stated
Limitations to weigh
- Set it on a hard, level floor near an outlet. Weight sensors read wrong on carpet or uneven tile, which can stop or trigger cycles.
- Automatic cycling has a minimum cat weight; keep automatic mode off for kittens under it and run cleans manually.
- Empty the waste bin before it's full and keep spare bags; an overfull bin is the most common cause of a stalled cycle.
- Running costs come from the bags, liners, filters and litter the maker specifies. The compatibility checker lists refills that state they fit.
