Why it matters
Ultra Clump is silica gel that absorbs moisture and forms sturdy clumps, unlike most crystal litters. It neutralizes ammonia odors on contact and is fragrance-free.
It's 99.9% dust free and soft on paws. Because it clumps, it can suit some sifting boxes that list crystal litter; check your box's maker before switching.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Crystal fans who want clumps
- Scent-sensitive homes
- Low-dust homes
Look elsewhere if
- Crystal-tray boxes (ScoopFree trays)
- Owners of clumping-only boxes without checking
- Very large bags
Pros and cons
Pros
- Clumps
- Unscented
- Very low dust
Cons
- Small bag
- Check box compatibility
- Premium price
Limitations to weigh
- Crystal litter suits crystal-tray boxes such as the ScoopFree and boxes whose maker lists crystal litter; most clumping-only globes reject it.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
