Why it matters
Bahama Sunset is Tidy Cats' clumping clay with a tropical fragrance. Purina guarantees 10 days of odor control when used as directed and says it locks in moisture.
It forms tight clumps and keeps dust low around the box, for single or multiple cats.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Owners who like a strong scent
- Multi-cat homes
- Self-cleaning boxes that take clumping litter
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who want a light bag
- Flushing (clay isn't flushable)
- Crystal-tray boxes
- Scent-sensitive cats
Pros and cons
Pros
- 10-day guarantee
- Tight clumps
- Low dust
Cons
- Strong scent
- Heavy
- Not flushable
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- Scented litters can put off some cats; if your cat avoids the box after a change, try an unscented formula.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
