Cats need vest-style harnesses that spread pressure across the chest; dog-style strap harnesses are easy to back out of. A good fit lets two fingers slide under every strap without gaps the shoulders can slip through.
Train indoors first. No harness is truly escape proof, so walk calmly, away from traffic and dogs.

- Style. Vest harnesses suit most cats; reflective strips help at dusk.
- Fit. Two fingers under each strap; measure neck and chest.
- Closure. Hook-and-loop is gentle but wears; buckles are firm but can click loudly.
- Training. Practice indoors for days before going outside.
