Cat Toys

Play keeps indoor cats fit and calm. Wand toys, used with you, are the best exercise; electronic and automatic toys fill time alone, but most cats lose interest if a toy never changes, so rotate them.

With laser toys, finish on a real toy the cat can catch, so the hunt ends in a win. Check power (batteries or USB), timers and noise for anything left running.

Before you buy

• Play style. Chasers like wands and lasers; pouncers like mice; hiders like tunnels.
• Solo time. Automatic toys with timers keep cats busy when you're out.
• Power. USB-rechargeable toys save batteries; check runtime.
• Safety. Remove strings and small parts after play; check for wear.
