Why it matters
Precious Cat Classic is a hard-clumping, unscented clay from Dr. Elsey's. The maker describes it as 99.9% dust free and hypoallergenic.
Dr. Elsey's lists it for use in mechanical litter boxes, which suits self-cleaning boxes that take clumping litter.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Self-cleaning box owners
- Budget buyers
- Unscented preference
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who want a light bag
- Flushing (clay isn't flushable)
- Crystal-tray boxes
Pros and cons
Pros
- Hard clumps
- Very low dust
- Unscented
Cons
- 40 lb bag
- Not flushable
- Clay
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- The bag weight is what you carry, not how long it lasts; lighter formulas cover the same use with less weight.
