Why it matters
The S3 uses three 365nm LEDs. That wavelength shows less purple light than cheap 395nm lights, so dried urine fluoresces more clearly. It's aluminum, waterproof and comes with a rechargeable battery.
Use it in a dark room to map every old spot before you clean.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Finding old stains
- Moving into a new home
- Repeated mystery smells
Look elsewhere if
- Daylight use
- Telling urine from other stains with certainty
- Replacing cleaning
Pros and cons
Pros
- 365nm wavelength
- Bright triple LED
- Rechargeable
Cons
- Pricier
- Needs darkness
- Other stains glow too
Limitations to weigh
- Use UV lights in a fully dark room; many cleaners and fabrics glow too, so check any find by smell.
- Test cleaners on a hidden patch of carpet or fabric first.
- New or repeated accidents can be a medical problem; check with your vet.
