Why it matters
Clean Tracks uses Dr. Elsey's 100% bentonite clay in a medium grain formulated to stay in the box rather than on the floor. It forms hard clumps that keep moisture off the bottom of the tray.
It's unscented, low dust and hypoallergenic per the maker.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Tracking problems
- Unscented preference
- Self-cleaning boxes that take clumping litter
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who want a light bag
- Flushing (clay isn't flushable)
- Crystal-tray boxes
Pros and cons
Pros
- Low tracking
- Hard clumps
- Unscented
Cons
- 40 lb bag
- Not flushable
- Clay
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
- The bag weight is what you carry, not how long it lasts; lighter formulas cover the same use with less weight.
