Why it matters
Loading from the top avoids the cat-braced-against-the-door problem. This GAPZER is 18 x 11 x 11 in with a top opening, self-locking zipper sliders and reinforced 600D Oxford fabric.
The maker rates it to 20 lb; check your airline's under-seat size if you fly.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Cats that resist front doors
- Vet visits
- Under-seat travel (check airline)
Look elsewhere if
- Cats larger than the stated weight or size
- Flights without checking the airline's limits
- Cats that chew mesh
Pros and cons
Pros
- Top loading
- Self-locking zippers
- Compact
Cons
- Lower roof
- Check airline rules
- Soft base
Limitations to weigh
- Measure your cat nose to tail-base and shoulder height; it should be able to stand and turn around inside.
- Leave the carrier out at home with a blanket and treats inside so your cat sees it as a den, not a vet trip.
- Airline rules vary by airline and route; check your airline's under-seat size and weight limit before you book.
